The Australian cricketer's heroics with the bat have set the benchmark for generations to follow. One of the cricketers looking to follow his footsteps was none other than Indian batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar.

In a recent interview, Tendulkar narrated his extremely interesting and nervy first meeting with 'The Don' when he also had legendary Aussie leg-spinner Shane Warne in company.

Speaking to India Today, the Master Blaster recalled how tensed both he and Warne were when they were going to meeting Sir Bradman for the first time ever.

"It was a big moment because I still remember from the hotel, Warnie was with me. Warnie was driving and he said 'I am tensed, I am worried, what to talk to him about batting?

You're a batter, so you need to talk to him.'

"I said, 'no, Aussie first'. I told him to start the conversation and I would follow up.

So Shane Warne went inside and started talking a little bit,” Sachin said.

Sir Don Bradman's response left Tendulkar stumped

When it was Tendulkar's turn to speak to Bradman, he asked the Aussie legend as to what his average would be if he was playing in his era. While Bradman said that it would be around 70, Tendulkar's rebound question was 'why not 99?'

"Obviously, the natural question was 'Sir Don, if you were batting in today's era, what would you have averaged?'.

He took about 10 seconds to think and said 'maybe around 70'. Obvious reaction was 'why only 70? Why not 99?'.

The legendary batsman's response to Tendulkar's question left him stumped.

"He said 'common kid, it's not bad for a year-old man'.

That was his response. He enjoyed watching cricket. He was up with the game. Those were special moments," Tendulkar revealed further.

Bradman had famously once compared his playing style to that of Tendulkar's. Even the Australian icon's wife admitted that there were similarities in the way he and Sachin played.

"I saw him playing on television and was struck by his technique, so I asked my wife to come look at him.

Now I never saw myself play, but I felt that this player is playing with a style similar to mine, and she looked at the TV and said yes, there is a similarity between the twohis compactness, technique, stroke production - it all seemed to gel," he had once said about the Indian.

While there's no doubting that Bradman remains the absolute pinnacle of batters, Tendulkar did go on to create a legacy for himself and live up to those expectations set by the comparisons between him and the Aussie by smashing several records in the world of cricket over the years.
