Kapil Sharma[1] is an Indian stand-up comedian, television presenter, actor and producer known for hosting The Kapil Sharma Show.[2] He previously hosted the television comedy shows Comedy Nights with Kapil and Family Time with Kapil.

Early Life and Career

Sharma was born in Amritsar, Punjab, India as Kapil Punj.[3][4] His father Jeetendra Kumar Punj was a head constable in Punjab Police, while his mother Janak Rani is a homemaker.[5] His father was diagnosed with cancer in and died in at AIIMS in Delhi.[6] He studied at Shri Ram Ashram Senior Secondary School, Amristar and Hindu College in Amritsar.

He is featured in the list of prominent alumni of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar.[7] Sharma has a brother named Ashok Kumar Sharma, who is a Police constable and a sister named Pooja Pawan Devgan.[8]

Sharma rose to fame after winning the comedy reality television show The Great Indian Laughter Challenge in , for which he won a cash prize of INR ₹10 lakh.[9] He had previously worked in the Punjabi show Hasde Hasaande Ravo on MH One channel.[10] Sharma has stated that he moved to Mumbai in order to become a singer.[4] The Kapil Sharma Show 20th November [11]

Sharma married Ginni Chatrath in Jalandhar on 12 December [12][13] They had a daughter on 10 December [14] On 1 February , the couple had another child, a son.[15][16]
