Arifin Shuvoo (Bengali: আরিফিন শুভ; born 2 February ) is a celebrated Bangladeshi film actor and one of the country's most prominent and bankable superstars. Known for his magnetic screen presence, versatile acting, and commanding performances, Shuvoo has solidified his place as a leading figure in the Bangladeshi entertainment industry.
Since his debut, he has captivated audiences with his roles in critically acclaimed films and box-office blockbusters, earning widespread acclaim and a devoted fanbase. Shuvoo’s contributions have not only redefined the landscape of Bangladeshi cinema but also brought it to the attention of international audiences.
He is the recipient of several awards and nominations, including the prestigious National Film Award and two Meril Prothom Alo Awards.

He made a debut into mainstream cinema with Purno Doirgho Prem Kahini in For his antagonist role in the film, he received a nomination for Best Actor at the Meril Prothom Alo Awards. He later went on to star in Bhalobasha Zindabad in and the romantic action film Agnee in . In , his performance in Chuye Dile Mon earned him his first Meril Prothom Alo Awards for Best Actor.[1] He later starred in the film Musafir directed by Ashiqur Rahman in In , he starred in Dhaka Attack directed by Dipankar Dipon.
In he starred in Mission Extreme Directed by Sunny Sanwar & Faisal Ahmed. His upcoming projects are Noor, Football 71, Neel Chakro, Lohu, Jazz City.
Career
– Television
Before working in television, Shuvoo worked in television commercials.
He made his acting debut in , with appearance in Mostofa Sarwar Farooki's television series Ha/Na in , where he had a recurring role. He also had a recurring role in the show Iz Equal Two in [2]
He then starred in the television series Serious Ekta Kotha Ache alongside Mosharraf Karim and Sohana Saba.
His performance was praised by critics. Another critically praised performance of his was in the show Lilaboti.[3] He continued in television until before starring in his debut film Jaago - Dare To Dream.[4]
– Debut and breakthrough
Shuvo made his film debut in with Khijir Hayat Khan's sports drama film Jaago - Dare To Dream, starring alongside Ferdous and Bindu.
He made his breakthrough in Shafi Uddin Shafi's Purno Doirgho Prem Kahini by starring alongside Jaya Ahsan and Shakib Khan, where he played the antagonist.

In , Shuvo was first seen in Iftakar Chowdhury's action thriller Agnee, alongside Mahiya Mahi.[7] He next started in Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Raz's Taarkata,[8] which received mixed to negative reviews from critics and received a mixed reaction from the audience.
The film was a commercial failure. His next project, Ashiqur Rahman'sKistimaat, co-starring Achol, where he plays the role of a cop, was a huge success at box office and was critically a success. The film was one of the highest-grossing films of [9]
In , he starred in Shihab Shaheen's romantic drama film Chuye Dile Mon, alongside Zakia Bari Momo.
The film and his performance was highly appreciated by both critics and audience, earning Shuvo his first Meril Prothom Alo award for Best Actor[1][2] This cementing his position as an actor of merit in the Bangladesh film industry. He next went on to star in Shafi Uddin Shafi's Warning alongside Mahiya Mahi and Rubel.[10] The film was a moderate success commercially.
In , Shuvo starred in Ashiqur Rahman's Musafir.[11] He then starred in Anonno Mamun's Ostitto which released in May [12] He also starred in the Indo-Bangladeshi joint ventureNiyoti, which directed by Jakir Hossain Raju and was produced by Jaaz Multimedia and Eskay Movies.[13][14] He then played a cameo in Amitabh Reza Chowdhury's Aynabaji which released on 30 September
In , Shuvoo began the year with Jakir Hossain Raju's Premi O Premi and Shamim Ahamed Roni's Dhat Teri Ki, both being produced by Jaaz Multimedia and co-starring Nusrat Faria Mazhar.[15] Regarding the former, the film and Shuvoo's performance were critically acclaimed.[16] Shuvoo also gave the voiceover for the first animated film of Bangladesh Detective, directed by Tapan Ahmed.
Later he acted in the film Dhaka Attack which was a huge blockbuster in the box office. The film was directed by Dipankar Dipon. The film was the highest-grossing Bangladeshi film of & still, it is the third highest-grossing Bangladeshi film of all time. And it is also the highest-grossing Bangladeshi film worldwide.

The movie was released on 27 September Both the films received widespread praise with Shuvoo's nuanced performances receiving critical acclaim.
In , Arifin Shuvoo made a powerful impact with his portrayal of Nabid Al Shahriar, an Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADC) in CTTC, in Sunny Sanwar and Faisal Ahmed's high-octane police action-thriller Mission Extreme, The film, which premiered on 3 December , showcased Shuvoo’s dedication and versatility as an actor.
He reprised the role in the sequel, Black War: Mission Extreme 2 which was released on 6 January Shuvoo's commitment to authenticity was unparalleled, as he underwent a groundbreaking body transformation to embody the physically demanding character—a first in Bangladeshi cinema. His remarkable transformation not only set new industry benchmarks but also became a source of admiration and inspiration for millions of fans across the nation.
He worked in a Chorki original movie Unish 20, which was directed by Mizanur Rahman Aryan and released on 13 February He also next starred in Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's biopic Mujib: The Making of a Nation playing the titular role of Mujib () directed by the legendary director Shyam Benegal. The film was an international co-production between BFDC and NFDC.
This performance earned him widespread critical acclaim from all quarters. The film was screened at Cannes International Film Festival and Toronto International film Festival, where it received thunderous reviews and Shuvoo's performance receiving resounding praise from international audiences and critics as well.
Also slated to release are Raihan Rafi's Noor, produced by Shapla Media and Noyeem Imtiaz Neyamul's Jam, which is about a traffic jam and produced by Dhallywood Cinema Megastar Manna's Kritanjoli Kothachitra and Mithu Khan's Neelchokro. It stars Shuvoo from Bangladesh and Sohini Sarkar from India as leads. Personal life
Arifin was married to Arpita Samaddar who is a fashion designer from India and works for a multinational company in Dhaka.[17] July 31, , Arifin Shuvoo announced his separation from Arpita Samaddar, bringing an end to their nine-year marriage. Shuvoo shared the news on his official Facebook page, stating, "Despite my reluctance and hesitancy to share anything personal in this situation, I believe the moment is appropriate to inform you all that Arpita and I have come to the understanding that we are compatible with each other as friends but not life partners.
We have reached this decision on July 20 that we will live the rest of our lives according to our own terms but also will keep this friendship alive."[18]
On September 4, , Rajuk announced the decision to cancel the plot allocated to Shuvoo under a reserved quota.

Shuvoo had been allocated a katha plot in the Purbachal New Town Project during a board meeting on November 27, Although he accepted the plot by paying the required fee, he was unable to register it in time.
Following the ouster of the Awami League government on August 5, Rajuk reviewed politically motivated land allocations over the past 15 years, resulting in the decision to revoke Shuvoo's plot.[19]
